Chevrolet Corvette Convertible

A blue Corvette by the coast

Jumeirah Beach Road suits this blue Chevrolet Corvette Convertible. There is time to enjoy the sound of the V8, the view out over its low nose and the way the open-top Corvette feels on a flowing stretch of road. In Downtown traffic, the automatic transmission makes life easier, though this is still a sports car you will want to ease over speed bumps and guide carefully into tight parking spaces.

Plans that suit the shape

This is a strong choice for a birthday drive, a photo shoot or an evening out for two. The blue paint gives a shoot something more vivid to work with than the usual neutral colours, particularly around the Marina or along the coast. It also feels right arriving at a hotel valet, without needing a long drive to make the occasion feel worthwhile.

For a longer outing, an unhurried run towards Abu Dhabi makes better sense than a day built around frequent stops and lots of luggage. The Corvette Convertible is a two-seat convertible with a folding hardtop, so it is best booked when you can travel light.

What you are driving

The specification is straightforward: a 6.2L petrol V8 producing 495 hp, an automatic transmission, two seats and two doors. The engine gives the car its distinctive character, but you need not drive hard to appreciate it. Even at an ordinary pace, the sound and the close-fitting cabin make a familiar Dubai route feel different.
