Lamborghini Aventador S Roadster

The V12, with the roof open

The Lamborghini Aventador S Roadster is not a quiet way to cross Dubai. Its V12 is a constant part of the occasion, even when you are moving with Downtown traffic rather than enjoying an open stretch of road. With the roof down, a drive along Jumeirah Beach Road feels more immediate; with it up, the car still has the low, dramatic presence people expect of an Aventador.

Best plans for this Roadster

This is a strong choice for a birthday, a photo shoot or a striking arrival at a hotel. It also suits a couple planning an evening drive around the Palm or along the Marina. It is less convincing as an airport car: travel light, and bear in mind that its low body needs care over speed bumps and on steep parking ramps. In warmer months, open-roof driving is more pleasant after sunset than in the midday heat.

What you are driving

This is a two-seat, two-door convertible with a 6.5L V12 petrol engine producing 730 hp and an automatic transmission. Those figures tell you much of the story, but the appeal is also in the sense of occasion: even a short drive feels deliberate. If you want a longer outing, the roads towards Abu Dhabi give you more time to settle into the car than a succession of short city trips.
